Overshadowed by Sportmanship

Do you remember when this happened?  A softball player hits her first home run and then tears her ACL rounding first base.  Two players on the opposite team carried her around the bases because she could not walk.  This selfless act of sportsmanship overshadowed the underdog moment.  This was a “game-winning” homerun from an average player on a the team that wasn’t supposed to win.  Moreover, this was a conference championship game.  What a moment!

America Loves the Underdog

This country was founded because a group of undertrained and overachieving farmers and businessmen decided to go to battle against an empire with one mindset…to WIN!  Americans continue to respect the mental toughness of our forefathers and gain inspiration from the underdog in amateur and professional sports more than two centuries later.  With the Olympics just around the corner its a great time to reflect on the personal challenges we face.  Its time to be inspired by our athletes to take action to overcome our personal Mt. Everest’s and, as an underdog…to WIN!
